1. 5G Smart Phones

The hype surrounding the 5G network is gaining traction in America with Verizon announcing that they’ll be the first phone service to give access to 5G.  5G is currently in transition from 4G LTE and will hopefully be making its first real appearance in major cities in 2020.  Not only will 5G but incredibly faster than 4G, it will also be less energy-intensive.  Meaning, saving energy nationwide and will allow lower costs (even though the price of 5G will go up respectively).  5G will make a world of a difference for ALL tech coming through in the years ahead.  It’s a massive need; faster-loading apps and websites, faster smart home devices and it’ll pave the way for VR (more on that shortly).

Do we need it now?  Yes.  The sooner the better.  In our day and age, we need the internet.  We need connection.  We need it fast and reliable.  2020 can’t come any sooner.

2. Virtual Reality (VR) Headsets

Virtual Reality is well-known, but a vast majority of the public has never experienced it.  VR is more than just for video games; it can be used for almost everything!  From architecture, construction, medicine, custom home-building, sports, music concerts, any live event, and practically everything in between.  Many of the barriers for the public to experience VR today is due to its high cost.  It’s a couple hundred dollars to have just one in your home and on top of that, they can be difficult to use as well as there not being many products to go along with them at the moment.  Industry experts are saying within the next 5 to 7 years, VR will bring its amazing 3D experiences to homes with extreme user-friendliness and a plethora of products and experiences.  A downside, though, will be consumers with motion sickness tendencies.  Which unfortunately many in the market experience.  With more time, VR will fix up its current issues and be a big hit when it gets some minor details figured out.

Do we need it now?  No.  I’d suggest not even worrying about VR until it has finally reached its peak and is offered at an affordable price.  Once that happens, get your wallets ready.  The world will shape itself around VR soon after.

3. Solar Panels On Cars

The automotive industry has been pumping out electric cars much more seriously.  Recently I saw a commercial for Audi that said they’re going to be 1/3rd electric by 2025.  Incredible!  One trend for electric cars is that of having solar panels on the roof of the car.  Now, today, solar panels the size of the roof of a car are not big enough to power a vehicle for the road.  But, as technology advances, it is more than reasonable to consider the reality of cars having solar panels on them.  These panels may in time power almost half of the car.  It may not be realistic to say solar panels will power a car 100%, but it can absolutely help in reducing fuel usage.

Do we need it now?  No.  As stated, technology isn’t up to date yet for this idea but the trend is alive and well.  In the US, having a car that is solar powered will help your pocket, and the environment, incredibly.

Is there any tech coming out in the next few years that you think is a must-have? Comment what you’re excited for! I look forward to reading your thoughts!
